De danske piloter og flypersonel har et stærkt fællesskab på Sigonella-basen på Sicilien, hvorfra F16-jægerne tager på bombetogter i Libyen. For hovedparten af de danske piloter, der tager på missioner over Libyen, er det første gang, at de kaster bomber mod 'rigtige' mål. De danske jagerfly har indtil videre fløjet 53 missioner over Libyen, hvor de i alt har kastet 128 bomber. The pilots from the Royal Danish Air Force are a strong community at the Sigonella Air Base in Sicily, from where the F-16 fighters launch bombing raids in Libya. For the majority of the Danish pilots who go on missions over Libya, it is the first time that they attack 'real' targets. The Danish fighter jets have so far flown 53 missions over Libya, with a total of 128 bombs has been dropped so far. Denmark joined Italy, Spain, the United States, Belgium, Canada, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and the UK in the NATO-led operation. Operation Unified Protector is a naval and air operation to enforce the arms embargo and the no-fly zone against Libya in support of United Nations Security Council Resolutions 1970 and 1973.
