Russia hacked into Danish Defence emails for two years, intelligence report reveals

The same group of hackers that was behind a cyber attack on the US Democratic Party last year has also gained access to the email accounts of select members of the Danish Defence. According to the Defence Intelligence Service, the information gained could be used to blackmail staff into becoming agents. Danish Defence Minister Claus Hjort Frederiksen calls it a »very critical situation«.

The group behind the attack - ATP 28, also known as Fancy Bear - is identical to one of the two hacking groups which last years gained illegal access to the email accounts of US Democrats. Fold sammen
