Frederiksberg is the city within the city and is a municipality of its own with more than 100,000 inhabitants. This is where Copenhagen Business School is located, with both Danish and international students. This part of the city has also benefited from the subway since it opened in 2003 with no less than four stations on Frederiksberg.

Right by Frederiksberg Station is Frederiksberg Centret where you’ll find both stores, cafés and restaurants. At one of the main streets, Falkoner Allé, there is an array of specialist stores and cafés. And if you are in the mood for a snack, you definitely have to swing by Bertels Kager, where you’ll find lavish, delicious gourmet cheesecakes like the ones from New York City. At Gammel Kongevej, the fairytale of Frederiksberg’s cafés and special store continues with surprises such as the little design and ceramics store Mumuland and the cozy coffee bar Ipsen & Co. And there is a good chance to find some stylish women’s wear at the designer label store Nué.

You could also swing by the classy Frederiksberg Allé, which connects Frederiksberg and Vesterbro. This is where you’ll find the theater Betty Nansen Teatret, which performs newly interpreted classics and has existed since the 19th century.

You can also have a green experience in Frederiksberg Have and Søndermarken, which are located on either side of Roskildevej. The two parks are used for both walking and running when the locals need a little break from the city. Between the two parks, you’ll find the Zoo, Zoologisk Have, with a lot of different animals. One of the newest attractions in the garden is The Arctic Ring where the guests can walk through a transparent underwater tube and get, if they are lucky, an up-close-and-personal experience with the big, fascinating polar bears.

Of course, Frederiksberg also has a lot of good culinary experiences such as the critically acclaimed Mielcke & Hurtigkarl. Another popular place to get a gastronomic experience is Restaurant Mêlée, which serves food from the French country kitchen, accompanied by great wine. If you’d rather feast on a good brunch or a juicy burger, you should pay Café Sokkelund a visit.

There are also plenty of popular music venues in Frederiksberg, for example Forum, which often hosts concerts with big name artists, both local and international. Falconer Salen, located at the bottom floor of the big hotel Radisson Blu, is also becoming an increasingly popular venue for big artists in both music, theater and talks.

If you’re looking to party in Frederiksberg, there are plenty of places to go. You could go to Salon 39 for a couple of delicious cocktails. Or how about a tasty beer at Berlin Bar? Alternatively, the night out could also include a visit to Alléenberg at Allégade, where there’s always a lively atmosphere. If you’re really lucky, there will even be a pianist playing the beautiful grand piano.
