The Danish People's Party (DPP) has called for a total stop on all immigration from Muslim countries, in response to new figures showing that only one in five of all immigrants from non-western countries marries an ethnic Dane. The DPP's integration spokesman, Martin Henriksen said most Muslims have no interest in integrating and create too many problems, such as sharia zones, a parallel society, and social control.
"Our ultimate goal is zero immigration from Muslim countries," he said. "Obviously there could be exceptions but the political aim has to be no more Muslims."
At the same time, the DPP has also renewed its call for ban on face covering veils in Denmark, such as the burqa or niqab. After the Dutch government promised to ban face coverings, DPP's integration spokesman Martin Henriksen said it's time to address the issue again in this country.
"We’ve always been told that a ban would be in violation of the Danish Constitution and international conventions but when Holland, Italy and Belgium are taking similar steps, and France already has a ban in place, I can't see how it can be illegal."
